Socially-conscious citizens of Malda has turned the virtual medium into a concrete platform for raising their voices together against growing oppression’s upon women through Social media i.e. Facebook.
A delegation of ‘Raise Your Voice,’ a community of social activists formed virtually in Facebook against oppression upon women and kids met the superintendent of police Arnab Ghosh today seeking justice for a minor girl from Rathbari gram panchayet area in Kaliachak II block, who was allegedly raped and killed by a gang of miscreants in last week of June.
The SP, Malda has assured to pursue the case himself to ensure arrest of the accused, the delegation said.
As per the source that the minor girl, a student of class IX was found dead at her house on June 27. Her family members alleged that the minor girl was abducted on June 22 and found in an unconscious state. As she recovered under treatment, the minor girl accused one Rezaul Sheikh and four his henchmen. A police complaint was registered. The deceased’s family alleged that despite registered a written complaint the culprits were not arrested. Instead they allegedly kept threatening the minor girl and her family.
After on June 27, girl was found hanging, her family members feared she was killed by culprits. They refused to accept that the girl had killed self.
The two member of the delegation met Arnab Ghosh, the SP, Malda today urging him to arrest the accused.
Manas Roy, a journalist and social-activist, who was a member of the delegation said that “The SP assured to look into the matter and speed up the probe”.
Meanwhile, parents of the dead minor girl went to the office of the SP on Tuesday to fulfill formalities to have the autopsy report. They alleged that the accused culprits were threatening them so that the written complaints were withdrawn.
